Air conditioning with heating mode for year-round room comfort

Many fixed AC systems can cool in summer and provide air-to-air heating from the indoor unit in colder months. We are clear about what that does and does not mean.

Overview

Practical air conditioning with heating mode, specified around the room.

Customers often hear heat pump and assume wet central heating. The systems we install are fixed air conditioning units with heating mode, not radiator, cylinder or underfloor heating systems.

AC heating mode is useful in conservatories, garden rooms, lofts, home offices, bedrooms, salons, shops and rooms that need fast local warmth without extending a wet heating system.

The quote checks insulation, room use, output, airflow, defrost behaviour, running pattern and whether the AC is main comfort for that room or a supplement to existing heating.

Specification

The details that decide whether the installation works properly.

Clear scope

We specify fixed AC systems only. We do not install wet air source heat pumps, hot water cylinders, radiators or underfloor heating.

Room insulation

Heating mode works best when the room can hold heat. Conservatories and garden rooms need realistic expectations around glazing and insulation.

Airflow comfort

Warm air needs to reach the occupied zone without feeling draughty. Unit position matters as much in heating mode as in cooling mode.

Controls and scheduling

Timers and Wi-Fi control help pre-warm rooms used at regular times, such as home offices and garden rooms.

Typical jobs

Common installation patterns we plan for.

These are typology notes rather than claimed job records: they show the kind of practical thinking used before we recommend a system.

Garden office

AC heating mode can take the chill off quickly before work starts, while still providing cooling in summer.

Conservatory

Useful where the room is otherwise unused in colder months, provided glazing and heat loss are considered at sizing stage.

Salon or treatment room

A single fixed system can give local cooling and air-to-air warmth without relying on the wider building heating schedule.

Quote guidance

What decides whether the fixed quote can proceed.

The quote route starts with postcode coverage, then checks the room, access, outdoor-unit position, electrics and installation route. Straightforward single-split systems can go through the fixed-price builder; complex rooms, commercial spaces and multi-room work may need a survey before the final scope is confirmed.

  • Room insulation, glazing and heat loss.
  • Whether heating mode is occasional or daily.
  • Output, airflow and unit position.
  • Controls, app scheduling and user habits.
  • Confirmation that the job is fixed AC, not wet heating.

Benefits

What customers usually want from this installation.

Reliable cooling

Bring the room back under control during warm weather, busy trading periods or high internal heat loads.

AC heating mode

Use the same fixed AC system for useful air-to-air heating when the weather turns colder. We do not install wet central-heating systems.

Neat installation

Plan the indoor unit, outdoor unit, pipe route and condensate route before installation starts.

Long-term efficiency

Choose inverter technology, good controls and routine maintenance to keep performance strong.

FAQs

Questions customers ask before they book.

Is AC heating mode the same as a wet heat pump?

No. It uses similar refrigeration principles but delivers warm air from the indoor AC unit. It does not heat water, radiators or underfloor heating.

Can AC heating mode replace a radiator?

In some individual rooms it can be the main comfort source, especially garden rooms and conservatories. We confirm this room by room rather than making a whole-house claim.

Does every AC unit provide heating mode?

Most fixed systems we specify can provide cooling and air-to-air heating, but the exact model and controls are confirmed in the quote.

How much does air conditioning with heating mode usually cost?

The guide price depends on room size, output, pipe route, outdoor-unit position, electrics and finish. A straightforward bedroom or standard room install usually starts from GBP 1,950, conservatories and larger open-plan rooms usually start from GBP 2,450, and two-room multi-split work usually starts from GBP 3,800.

Do you install wet heat pump systems?

No. We install fixed air conditioning systems. Many AC units can provide useful air-to-air heating mode from the indoor unit, but we do not install wet central-heating heat pumps, radiators, cylinders or underfloor heating systems.
