Wall mounted air conditioning for homes and smaller workplaces

Wall-mounted AC is the most common fixed split option, but it still needs careful positioning, output and pipe-route planning.

Overview

Practical wall mounted air conditioning, specified around the room.

A wall unit can look simple, but poor placement causes draughts, uneven cooling, visible pipework or awkward maintenance access.

We install wall-mounted AC in bedrooms, offices, lounges, conservatories, garden rooms, shops, salons and small commercial spaces where high wall space is available.

The quote checks wall strength, airflow, room layout, pipe exit, outdoor route, condensate drainage and whether a standard or designer unit is the better fit.

Specification

The details that decide whether the installation works properly.

Wall position

The best wall position balances airflow, appearance, pipe route and furniture. It is not always the most central wall.

Airflow spread

Vane direction and room shape decide whether the unit can reach the occupied zone without draughts.

Visual finish

Standard white units suit many rooms, but designer finishes can work better in lounges, salons and high-spec bedrooms.

Service access

Filters, covers and pipe connections need enough access for routine maintenance and future repair.

Typical jobs

Common installation patterns we plan for.

These are typology notes rather than claimed job records: they show the kind of practical thinking used before we recommend a system.

Bedroom wall unit

Low-noise indoor unit positioned away from the bed, with a short pipe route to a side or rear outdoor wall.

Salon wall unit

Positioned to avoid blowing directly over treatment chairs or mirrors while still controlling heat from dryers and lighting.

Conservatory wall unit

Requires output and position checks because wall space can be limited and solar gain can be severe.

Quote guidance

What decides whether the fixed quote can proceed.

The quote route starts with postcode coverage, then checks the room, access, outdoor-unit position, electrics and installation route. Straightforward single-split systems can go through the fixed-price builder; complex rooms, commercial spaces and multi-room work may need a survey before the final scope is confirmed.

  • Standard, designer or higher-spec wall unit choice.
  • Wall strength, height and available clear space.
  • Pipe route and whether internal trunking is needed.
  • Output class and sound requirement.
  • Outdoor-unit location and condensate route.

Benefits

What customers usually want from this installation.

Reliable cooling

Bring the room back under control during warm weather, busy trading periods or high internal heat loads.

AC heating mode

Use the same fixed AC system for useful air-to-air heating when the weather turns colder. We do not install wet central-heating systems.

Neat installation

Plan the indoor unit, outdoor unit, pipe route and condensate route before installation starts.

Long-term efficiency

Choose inverter technology, good controls and routine maintenance to keep performance strong.

FAQs

Questions customers ask before they book.

Is wall-mounted AC the cheapest fixed option?

It is usually the most cost-effective fixed system type where the room has suitable wall space and a practical route outside.

Can wall units look good in a finished room?

Yes. Standard white units are neat, and designer options such as LG Artcool or premium Mitsubishi Electric styles can suit rooms where appearance matters.

How high does a wall unit need to be?

Usually high enough for good airflow and service access, but the exact position depends on room shape, furniture and pipe route.

How much does wall mounted air conditioning usually cost?

The guide price depends on room size, output, pipe route, outdoor-unit position, electrics and finish. A straightforward bedroom or standard room install usually starts from GBP 1,950, conservatories and larger open-plan rooms usually start from GBP 2,450, and two-room multi-split work usually starts from GBP 3,800.

Do you install wet heat pump systems?

No. We install fixed air conditioning systems. Many AC units can provide useful air-to-air heating mode from the indoor unit, but we do not install wet central-heating heat pumps, radiators, cylinders or underfloor heating systems.
