Replacement and aftercare

Air conditioning replacement for old, noisy or unreliable systems

Replacement AC is not always a like-for-like swap. We check the old pipework, refrigerant, electrics, controls and room load before recommending an upgrade.

Overview

Practical air conditioning replacement, specified around the room.

Older systems can become noisy, inefficient, unreliable or uneconomical to repair. Parts availability and refrigerant type often decide whether replacement is the sensible route.

We replace domestic and commercial AC in bedrooms, conservatories, offices, shops, salons, server rooms and older multi-room installations.

The quote checks existing indoor and outdoor units, pipework condition, refrigerant type, electrical supply, controls, drain route, mounting and whether the room requirement has changed.

Specification

The details that decide whether the installation works properly.

Existing pipework

Pipework may be reusable in some cases, but only if size, condition, route and refrigerant compatibility are suitable.

Refrigerant and age

Older systems may use refrigerants or parts that make repair less attractive than replacement.

Electrical and controls

The old supply and controls may need updating to suit the replacement system.

Room use changes

If the room is now an office, bedroom or open-plan space, the replacement may need different output from the original unit.

Typical jobs

Common installation patterns we plan for.

These are typology notes rather than claimed job records: they show the kind of practical thinking used before we recommend a system.

Old bedroom AC replacement

A quieter modern unit can improve night comfort, but we still check the old wall position and outdoor unit route.

Conservatory system upgrade

Older systems may be undersized for current use, especially if the room has been opened into the house.

Commercial replacement

Shops and offices may need phased work so the old unit is removed and the new system commissioned with minimal downtime.

Quote guidance

What decides whether the fixed quote can proceed.

The quote route starts with postcode coverage, then checks the room, access, outdoor-unit position, electrics and installation route. Straightforward single-split systems can go through the fixed-price builder; complex rooms, commercial spaces and multi-room work may need a survey before the final scope is confirmed.

  • Whether existing pipework and wiring can be reused.
  • Old refrigerant type, system age and parts availability.
  • New unit output and room-use changes.
  • Removal, disposal and making good.
  • Controls, warranty and maintenance requirements.

Benefits

What customers usually want from this installation.

Reliable cooling

Bring the room back under control during warm weather, busy trading periods or high internal heat loads.

AC heating mode

Use the same fixed AC system for useful air-to-air heating when the weather turns colder. We do not install wet central-heating systems.

Neat installation

Plan the indoor unit, outdoor unit, pipe route and condensate route before installation starts.

Long-term efficiency

Choose inverter technology, good controls and routine maintenance to keep performance strong.

FAQs

Questions customers ask before they book.

Can you reuse my existing AC pipework?

Sometimes, but it must be checked for size, condition, route and compatibility with the replacement system.

Is repair or replacement better?

It depends on age, fault, parts availability, refrigerant type and the cost of repair. We will say if replacement is the more sensible route.

Can you replace only the indoor unit?

Usually indoor and outdoor units are matched systems, so partial replacement is limited. The exact options depend on brand and model.

How much does air conditioning replacement usually cost?

The guide price depends on room size, output, pipe route, outdoor-unit position, electrics and finish. A straightforward bedroom or standard room install usually starts from GBP 1,950, conservatories and larger open-plan rooms usually start from GBP 2,450, and two-room multi-split work usually starts from GBP 3,800.

Do you install wet heat pump systems?

No. We install fixed air conditioning systems. Many AC units can provide useful air-to-air heating mode from the indoor unit, but we do not install wet central-heating heat pumps, radiators, cylinders or underfloor heating systems.
