Critical cooling

Computer room air conditioning for IT and equipment-heavy spaces

Computer room AC keeps equipment temperatures stable where ordinary office cooling is not enough.

Overview

Practical computer room air conditioning, specified around the room.

Computer rooms and IT cupboards often run hot even when the office feels fine. Equipment creates constant heat and may be enclosed in spaces with limited airflow.

We install AC in computer rooms, comms cupboards, equipment-heavy offices, network rooms and small technical spaces.

The quote checks equipment load, room ventilation, continuous run needs, condensate, alarms, maintenance access and whether comfort AC or dedicated cooling is the better route.

Specification

The details that decide whether the installation works properly.

Equipment heat

Heat output from computers, switches, servers and UPS equipment is more important than floor area.

Airflow around equipment

Cold air must reach the equipment and warm air must be able to return to the unit. Blocked racks and cupboards need attention.

Run hours

Technical rooms may need cooling outside office hours, so controls and operating mode matter.

Water management

Drain and pump routes need careful planning near IT equipment.

Typical jobs

Common installation patterns we plan for.

These are typology notes rather than claimed job records: they show the kind of practical thinking used before we recommend a system.

Small IT room

Dedicated AC sized around equipment load, not room size, with clear service access.

Equipment cupboard

May need AC or improved ventilation depending on heat load and physical space.

Office with high computer load

Comfort cooling may need additional capacity if the room holds multiple workstations and equipment.

Quote guidance

What decides whether the fixed quote can proceed.

The quote route starts with postcode coverage, then checks the room, access, outdoor-unit position, electrics and installation route. Straightforward single-split systems can go through the fixed-price builder; complex rooms, commercial spaces and multi-room work may need a survey before the final scope is confirmed.

  • Number and heat output of devices.
  • Continuous operation and room ventilation.
  • Drain route and condensate pump risk.
  • Alarm, monitoring or redundancy needs.
  • Maintenance access around equipment.

Benefits

What customers usually want from this installation.

Reliable cooling

Bring the room back under control during warm weather, busy trading periods or high internal heat loads.

AC heating mode

Use the same fixed AC system for useful air-to-air heating when the weather turns colder. We do not install wet central-heating systems.

Neat installation

Plan the indoor unit, outdoor unit, pipe route and condensate route before installation starts.

Long-term efficiency

Choose inverter technology, good controls and routine maintenance to keep performance strong.

FAQs

Questions customers ask before they book.

Is computer room AC different from office AC?

Yes when the cooling is protecting equipment. It is sized around heat output and run hours rather than people alone.

Can AC be fitted in a cupboard?

Sometimes, but there must be enough room, airflow and a safe condensate route. Some cupboards need a different cooling strategy.

Should computer room AC run all year?

It may need to. Equipment can overheat in winter if the room is enclosed and the heat load is constant.

How much does computer room air conditioning usually cost?

The guide price depends on room size, output, pipe route, outdoor-unit position, electrics and finish. A straightforward bedroom or standard room install usually starts from GBP 1,950, conservatories and larger open-plan rooms usually start from GBP 2,450, and two-room multi-split work usually starts from GBP 3,800.

Do you install wet heat pump systems?

No. We install fixed air conditioning systems. Many AC units can provide useful air-to-air heating mode from the indoor unit, but we do not install wet central-heating heat pumps, radiators, cylinders or underfloor heating systems.
